Books to Bars

Books to Bars is a 100% non-profit organization that seeks to promote literacy, creativity, and functionality in Southern Ontario’s correctional facilities. Through various drop off locations and direct donations, Books to Bars is able to provide reading materials to facilities desperately in need. In an attempt to improve literacy services in facilities like the Barton Street Jail and others in the region, a holiday book drive has been organized to call upon members of the community to donate their used books. Several of Hamilton’s finest pubs and taverns are enthusiastically teaming up with Books to Bars and will be participating in the month long event. Donation boxes will be available in their establishments for your convenience for the month of December. To learn more about Books to Bars and the holiday book drive, visit: indyhamilton.com

  1. I don’t know about you but I was a huge book guy. Had so many books that they had to be taken into consideration when looking for apartments etc. Well over the past 5 years or so I’ve been unloading them. Very few people seem to want used books anymore, probably unloading their own. So if they can go somewhere where they are really valued and can do some good, then its just a good idea
